Transportation Engineering Eligibility

Class 12 eligibility

Candidates generally need to pass Class 12 or equivalent from a recognised board. Physics and Mathematics are commonly compulsory, with Chemistry or another permitted subject included under institutional rules. Course application: mobility, traffic and transport infrastructure.

For IIT and NIT admission, students should plan around the current PCM and examination conditions.

Minimum marks

IIT eligibility

Can PCB students apply?

PCB students without Mathematics generally cannot enter standard BE/BTech Civil Engineering routes. Mathematics is central to admission and the curriculum.

Can PCM students apply?

PCM is the standard combination and qualifies candidates for most routes, subject to marks and entrance conditions.

Diploma eligibility

Diploma Civil Engineering admission commonly follows Class 10 under state technical-board rules. Mathematics and Science and a minimum score may be required.

Lateral-entry eligibility

IITs and NITs do not normally offer direct second-year lateral entry.

MTech eligibility

Postgraduate programmes generally require BE/BTech Civil Engineering or another degree specifically accepted by the institute. There is no GATE paper titled Transportation Engineering; GATE Civil Engineering is the principal route, while a few interdisciplinary programmes may notify additional eligible papers.

PhD eligibility
