Cut-off interpretation
A JKCET qualifying threshold, merit position, scholarship threshold and admission closing rank answer different questions. A candidate can qualify without receiving the preferred branch. Closing positions can differ by programme, category, institution, round and seat type. Present a number only with all these labels and the year.
Previous closing data can help construct preferences, but it cannot guarantee the next allotment. Seat matrix changes, candidate choices and rules affect every round. Use three preference groups: ambitious, realistic and safer. All choices should still be acceptable programmes; do not add an unwanted branch merely to lengthen the list.
