Follow course verification, application, entrance examination, counselling, document checks and final admission.
Artificial Intelligence Admission Process
The general admission process includes the following steps.
Step 1: Select the degree type
Students should decide whether they want B.Tech, BSc, BS, BCA, M.Tech, MSc, diploma or certification.
Step 2: Compare curricula
A programme with “AI” in its title may contain only a few specialised subjects. Candidates should compare core computing, mathematics, AI laboratories, electives and projects.
Step 3: Check eligibility
Students must verify compulsory subjects, minimum marks, age requirements and accepted entrance examinations.
Step 4: Register for the examination
Depending on the college, candidates may apply for JEE Main, JEE Advanced, CUET, a state entrance examination or a university test.
Step 5: Apply to counselling or the university
Entrance-exam registration and college admission can be separate processes.
Step 6: Fill programme preferences
Candidates should compare AI, AI and ML, AI and Data Science and CSE before ordering preferences.
Step 7: Participate in counselling
Seat allocation may depend on rank, category, domicile, preference and availability.
Step 8: Verify documents
Shortlisted candidates submit academic, identity and reservation records.
Step 9: Pay the fee
Candidates confirm admission by paying the prescribed amount within the deadline.
Merit-Based Admission
Some universities admit students using Class 12 or graduation marks. Merit-based admission may still require online registration, document verification and fee payment.
Candidates should not select a college only because direct admission is available. They should evaluate teaching, laboratories, curriculum and placement outcomes.
Entrance-Based Admission
B.Tech admission may involve:
- JEE Main;
- JEE Advanced;
- state engineering entrance examinations;
- private university tests;
- CUET UG where accepted; or
- another institutional route.
M.Tech admission may use GATE, a postgraduate state examination or an institutional test. MSc admission may use CUET PG or a university entrance examination.
Lateral Entry
Eligible diploma or BSc holders may receive lateral entry into the second year of selected B.Tech programmes, subject to university and state rules.
Students should verify:
- accepted diploma branches;
- required subjects;
- entrance test;
- available seats;
- credit differences; and
- programme-specific restrictions.
Direct Admission
Private institutions may offer direct or merit-based admission against permitted seats. Students should verify recognition, fee, refund rules, curriculum and placement data before accepting an offer.
Questions to Ask Before Admission
Candidates should ask:
- Is the degree B.Tech AI, CSE with AI or AI and ML?
- Which university awards the degree?
- Is the programme approved and recognised as required?
- How many faculty members specialise in AI?
- Are core CSE subjects included?
- How much Mathematics is taught?
- Are machine learning laboratories available?
- What computing infrastructure is provided?
- Are cloud or GPU resources available?
- Which programming languages are used?
- Are projects individually assessed?
- Are internships compulsory?
- What job roles were offered to recent graduates?
- How many students obtained AI-specific roles?
- What is the complete fee?
- Are cloud, certification or examination charges additional?
- Can students take electives outside AI?
- Does the curriculum address responsible AI and security?
- Are research opportunities available?
- What is the refund policy?
