Diploma progression

The first stage covers Mathematics, computer fundamentals and introductory programming. Later semesters introduce operating systems, databases, networks, distributed systems, cryptography, smart contracts, application security and project work.

Diploma education is practical, but students should still understand why protocols and configurations work. Memorising commands without the underlying model makes troubleshooting difficult.

Four-year engineering progression

The first year establishes Mathematics, Physics, programming and engineering fundamentals. The second year introduces data structures, digital systems, operating systems, databases and networks. The third year adds distributed systems, cryptography, consensus, smart contracts, security and electives. The final year includes advanced topics, internship and a major project.

Postgraduate progression

The first postgraduate year usually contains advanced distributed systems, cryptography, blockchain architecture, security, performance and research methods. The second year emphasises electives, seminar and dissertation. Students may study protocol engineering, privacy, interoperability, tokenisation or formal verification.

Internship and project duration

Internships may last from a few weeks to a full semester. Suitable work can involve network operations, IT infrastructure, cloud support, security monitoring, telecom systems, data centres or system integration.

Project examples include a permissioned supply-chain ledger, verifiable certificate system, decentralised identity prototype, smart-contract test suite, asset-tracking workflow, multi-node laboratory or transaction-analysis dashboard.

Learning beyond the formal duration

Blockchain technology evolves, so education continues throughout a career. Engineers must update skills in protocols, cloud platforms, secure development, governance and distributed systems. A four-year degree provides foundations rather than permanent expertise in one platform.
