Mineral Engineering Entrance Exams

JEE Main

JEE Main supports admission to NITs and other participating engineering institutes through the current counselling system. Programme names in the seat matrix may combine Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced is used for IIT undergraduate admission. Candidates must first satisfy the current JEE Main eligibility route and then participate in JoSAA choice filling after qualification.

State examinations

MHT CET, AP EAPCET and other state routes may lead to related Mining, Metallurgical or Mineral Processing programmes. A previous-year cutoff does not prove that the same title and intake remain active.

GATE

GATE is relevant to many postgraduate mineral, mining and metallurgical programmes. Each college specifies accepted undergraduate degrees, GATE papers, score requirements and whether sponsored or non-GATE applicants have another route.

CUET-PG, state PG and institute routes

AP PGECET, OJEE, state PG systems and institute processes apply to particular postgraduate programmes. Candidates must verify the eligible degree and accepted GATE paper for extractive, physical, process or materials specialisations.

Preparation strategy

UG candidates should follow the official PCM syllabus and practise timed questions. PG candidates should prepare Mechanical or another accepted GATE paper and revise materials fundamentals.
