Typical portfolio-based progression
An introductory stage covers visual principles, image preparation, typography, HTML and CSS. Learners reproduce small layouts while developing accuracy and file discipline.
The intermediate stage adds responsive design, JavaScript interaction, wireframing, prototyping, content management, accessibility and usability. Projects become larger and require clearer reasoning.
An advanced stage may include design systems, e-commerce, performance, analytics, motion, collaboration and client workflow. The final phase normally concentrates on original portfolio projects, presentation and internship or freelance simulation.
Academic workload
A practical programme includes demonstrations, studio exercises, critiques, coding practice, assignments, testing and projects. Students should expect substantial independent work; watching tool demonstrations is not enough.
Internship duration
An internship may range from a few weeks to an entire semester according to the programme. Suitable environments include digital agencies, product companies, visual-communication studios, IT departments, startups, e-commerce teams, publishing organisations and website-management teams.
Students should favour internships that provide defined technical work, supervision and feedback. A certificate without actual contribution has limited value in an interview.
Major project
The final project allows students to integrate a brief, user needs, information architecture, wireframes, visual design, responsive implementation, accessibility, testing and documentation. Examples include an accessible college website, responsive e-commerce prototype, multilingual public-information site, CMS-based magazine, small-business website or reusable interface system.
The scope should match the available time and resources. A smaller original website that works across devices and has documented testing is preferable to a large project assembled from copied templates.
