Follow course verification, application, entrance examination, counselling, document checks and final admission.
Augmented and Virtual Reality Admission Process
Step 1: Choose the qualification
Candidates should determine whether they need an engineering degree, application-oriented degree, vocational programme or short certification.
Step 2: Verify programme availability
AR/VR programme titles and industry collaborations can change. Applicants should confirm that the course is available for the current intake.
Step 3: Compare curricula
The programme should provide a reasonable balance of programming, graphics, interaction and immersive development.
Step 4: Check eligibility
Candidates should verify required subjects, marks, entrance examinations and lateral-entry provisions.
Step 5: Complete entrance registration
B.Tech applicants may need JEE Main, a state entrance examination, CUET or a university test.
Step 6: Apply to the institution or counselling authority
Entrance-exam and college applications may be separate.
Step 7: Attend aptitude, portfolio or interview rounds
Selected design- or media-oriented programmes may assess visual, creative or communication abilities.
Step 8: Complete counselling and document verification
Seats may be allocated using rank, merit, preferences, category and availability.
Step 9: Pay fees and confirm admission
Candidates should read the full fee and refund conditions.
Merit-Based Admission
BCA, BSc, B.Voc and diploma programmes may use Class 12 merit. Some private B.Tech institutions also offer merit-based admission where permitted.
Merit-based admission does not eliminate the need to verify programme recognition and facilities.
Entrance-Based Admission
Depending on the degree, admission may use:
- JEE Main;
- JEE Advanced for relevant IIT routes;
- state engineering examinations;
- CUET UG;
- university-level tests;
- CUCET or another institutional examination;
- GATE;
- portfolio assessment; or
- interviews.
No single examination is compulsory for every AR and VR course.
Lateral Entry
Selected B.Tech programmes offer three-year lateral entry to eligible diploma or BSc holders.
Common conditions may include:
- relevant engineering diploma;
- required minimum marks;
- BSc with Mathematics at Class 12;
- university entrance examination; and
- availability of seats.
Questions to Ask Before Admission
Candidates should ask:
- What exact degree will be awarded?
- Is the programme standalone AR/VR or CSE with AR/VR?
- Is the course active for the current intake?
- Which university awards the degree?
- Are core computer-science subjects included?
- Which game engines are taught?
- How much programming is required?
- Are AR and VR headsets available?
- How many students share each headset?
- Are motion tracking and haptic devices available?
- Are 3D modelling and animation taught?
- Is spatial computing covered?
- Are ergonomics and accessibility included?
- Are internships compulsory?
- What AR/VR-specific jobs were offered?
- Were placement packages branch-specific or university-wide?
- What is the full fee?
- Are device, software and laboratory charges additional?
- Can students publish applications developed during the course?
- What happens if an industry partner changes?
