Admission may take place through:

  • JEE Main
  • State engineering examinations
  • University-specific examinations
  • Class 12 merit at selected institutions
  • Institutional admission for permitted seats

Admission to specialisations

When Automotive Engineering is a Mechanical Engineering specialisation, the process may follow one of three models:

  • Direct admission to the named specialisation
  • Admission to Mechanical Engineering followed by specialisation selection
  • Common first-year admission followed by branch allocation

Students should not rely on verbal assurances that a specialisation will be available later. Obtain the current academic rules in writing.

Direct or management admission

Private unaided institutions may fill specified seats under approved institutional procedures. Eligibility conditions still apply.

Candidates should verify:

  • Complete fee structure
  • Refund policy
  • Official payment method
  • Recognition and affiliation
  • Approved intake
  • Placement support
  • Scholarship conditions
  • Programme continuity

Avoid agents promising guaranteed admission, examination success or placement.

Postgraduate admission

MTech admission may use:

  • GATE
  • Centralised postgraduate counselling
  • State counselling
  • University entrance examinations
  • Academic merit
  • Departmental tests
  • Interviews
  • Sponsored-candidate procedures

A candidate should confirm which GATE paper is accepted and whether financial assistance is available.
