Automotive Engineering Entrance Exams

No single examination is mandatory for every institution.

JEE Main

JEE Main is accepted by many engineering institutions. Automotive Engineering availability must be checked separately in the participating college’s branch list.

A JEE Main score may also be used by private universities and state counselling bodies.

JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced is used for admission to IIT undergraduate programmes. It is not a universal Automotive Engineering entrance examination.

IITs commonly offer Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Design, Electrical Engineering or related programmes rather than a standalone BTech Automotive Engineering degree. Students may pursue automotive projects, electives or postgraduate specialisations through these broader branches.

State examinations

Depending on the institution, students may apply through:

• TS EAPCET
• Other state admission systems

The branch and participating-college list can change each year.

University examinations

Private and deemed universities may use their own tests or accept national and state scores. Students must verify which campus offers the relevant programme.

GATE

GATE is widely used for postgraduate engineering admission. Automotive Engineering programmes may accept the Mechanical Engineering paper or another specified paper.

Entrance preparation

Students should:

• Follow the official syllabus
• Strengthen Mathematics and Physics
• Practise previous papers
• Take timed tests
• Revise systematically
• Track deadlines
• Register separately for counselling
• Prepare documents in advance
• Fill a balanced set of college preferences

Qualifying an examination does not complete admission. Counselling and document-verification requirements are equally important.
