Civil Engineering Entrance Exams
Civil Engineering uses national, state and university entrance routes. Candidates should identify the accepted exam for every target college.
JEE Main
JEE Main is used for NITs, several centrally funded institutes and many state or private colleges. It also determines eligibility for JEE Advanced.
JEE Advanced
JEE Advanced is required for IIT Civil Engineering programmes. Candidates participate in JoSAA after obtaining a rank.
MHT CET
MHT CET is important for Maharashtra engineering colleges. JEE Main may apply to all-India seats under current rules.
WBJEE
WBJEE supports admission to participating West Bengal institutions, including universities with established Civil programmes.
KCET and COMEDK
KCET is used for eligible Karnataka seats, while COMEDK serves participating private colleges. Separate counselling applies.
KEAM
Kerala's engineering admission system uses KEAM-related ranking and counselling. Current rules for board marks and examination performance should be checked.
AP EAPCET and TG EAPCET
These examinations support engineering admission in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Telangana's current examination name is TG EAPCET. Local-area, subject, category and counselling rules differ, so candidates should use the notification issued for their admission year.
OJEE
Odisha admission can use JEE Main and OJEE-related counselling. OJEE is also relevant to lateral entry under specified rules.
GUJCET
GUJCET and Gujarat counselling are relevant to participating state colleges. Subject and domicile rules apply.
University tests
Private universities may use VITEEE, SRMJEEE, MET, BITSAT or their own examination where Civil Engineering is offered.
GATE
GATE Civil Engineering is used for MTech admissions and some public-sector recruitment. The syllabus covers all major Civil areas.
Lateral-entry exams
States conduct separate diploma-to-degree entrance or counselling. Diploma candidates should follow the current technical-education notice.
Preparation strategy
UG candidates should strengthen PCM, solve official or previous papers and practise timing. PG candidates should balance all Civil subjects and Engineering Mathematics.
Cutoff caution
Cutoffs vary by round, category, quota and year. Candidates should avoid comparing ranks from different examinations directly.
