JEE Main

JEE Main is used by NITs, IIITs and other participating institutions and serves as the qualifying route for JEE Advanced under applicable conditions. Exact IoT programmes and seat matrices change each year.

State engineering examinations

State routes include MHT CET, KCET, WBJEE, KEAM, AP EAPCET, TG EAPCET, GUJCET and others. For example, an Andhra Pradesh IoT programme may use AP EAPCET counselling, while Tamil Nadu colleges may use the state's prescribed admission process.

University examinations

Private universities may use VITEEE, SRMJEEE, MET, SAEEE or their own admission test. Candidates should confirm whether a national score is accepted and whether a separate application is needed.

GATE

GATE is a major route to M.Tech admissions. Departments decide accepted papers, qualifying degrees, cut-offs and whether an interview is required. IoT applicants should not assume that one paper is accepted everywhere.

State PG tests

AP PGECET, Karnataka PGCET, WB PGET and other state processes may be used for postgraduate seats. The relevant examination depends on the college and admission category.

Preparation strategy

UG candidates should follow the official Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics syllabus, solve previous questions and take timed tests. PG candidates should build depth in the subjects of their selected GATE or state paper.

After the result, candidates must complete counselling, choice filling and fee payment within separate deadlines. A good score is ineffective if counselling registration is missed.
