Four-year B.Tech pattern
The first year covers Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, computing, engineering drawing and workshops. The second year introduces organic chemistry, chemical engineering, hide and skin science, microbiology and early leather processes.
The third year develops tanning, post-tanning, finishing, machinery, testing, footwear and environmental technology. The final year includes advanced products, management, internship, electives and a major project.
Diploma pattern
Diplomas begin with basic science, drawing and workshop practice and progress to tanning, finishing, testing and production. They are more technician-oriented but still require laboratory discipline and calculations.
Internship
Internships may occur in tanneries, footwear factories, chemical companies, testing laboratories, leather-goods units or research organisations. Students need defined tasks, supervision and safety induction.
Project duration
Projects may involve process improvement, cleaner chemistry, product development, testing or waste utilisation. Multiple controlled trials are more reliable than one visually successful sample.
