Eligibility is programme-specific

The official Mechanical Engineering course page specifies a pass at the recognised Class 12 level, at least 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics together, and at least 50% in Mathematics. These are two separate numerical conditions. A strong PCM aggregate does not remove a Mathematics shortfall, and a strong Mathematics mark does not remove an aggregate shortfall.

As an original illustration, marks of 65 in Physics, 60 in Chemistry and 45 in Mathematics produce a PCM average above 50% when each subject is out of 100. They still fail the separate 50% Mathematics condition in that Mechanical Engineering description. Checking only the overall school percentage would miss the problem entirely.

Another official B.Tech Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning page permits Physics and Mathematics with a listed additional subject, while retaining the 50% relevant aggregate and 50% Mathematics requirements. This demonstrates why the Mechanical Engineering PCM wording should not be imposed on every branch. A student must use the actual programme's accepted subject list.

That AI and Machine Learning page calls its alternatives a list of fourteen subjects, but the visible enumeration contains fewer named entries. Do not infer missing subjects from the stated count. If a student's subject is not expressly named, obtain clarification rather than assuming that it belongs to an omitted category. The exact qualification matters more than a broad label such as science stream.

Pending results and lateral entry

The reviewed AI and Machine Learning page permits candidates taking the relevant Class 12 examinations in March–May 2026 to apply with Class 10 and Class 11 records. Provisional application is different from final academic eligibility. A candidate must still complete the required qualification and satisfy the conditions of the eventual offer.

A pending final result can mean several things: examinations are unfinished, results are awaiting publication, or the student has passed but the printed certificate has not arrived. State the exact situation when asking the university about documents. These cases may have different accepted records and deadlines.

Lateral entry is a separate academic entry point. The official engineering material includes diploma-based eligibility, and a computing-related lateral-entry page specifies a relevant diploma field. A diploma applicant should therefore check both the entry year and the accepted discipline. The shared entrance-pattern heading does not make first-year and lateral-entry qualifications identical.

For an international curriculum, use the programme's stated equivalence and subject requirements. An overall diploma or school qualification should not be assumed equivalent merely because it permits university study elsewhere. Preserve the official grade record and any required equivalence evidence so that the application can be assessed on its actual academic basis.
