The B.Tech section distribution
The official 2026 pattern allocates 120 marks across seven areas for all B.Tech and B.Tech lateral-entry tests. Mathematics has the largest individual allocation, but English, General Knowledge, Reasoning and Data Analysis together account for more than half of the paper. Treating this as a PCM-only examination would leave a substantial part of the assessment unprepared.

The published duration is 90 minutes unless otherwise specified. The guidelines award one mark for a correct answer, deduct one quarter for a wrong answer and give zero for an unanswered item. Candidates should follow the actual interface instructions on navigation and response submission rather than assuming that every online test permits the same actions.
At a simple overall level, 90 minutes for 120 one-mark items gives an average of 45 seconds per item. This is a planning calculation, not a compulsory time limit for each question. A direct vocabulary item may take much less time, leaving room for a multi-step data or Mathematics question.
