Qualifying degrees and minimum marks

Postgraduate engineering eligibility is programme-specific. The reviewed permitted 2026 programme table commonly lists a relevant engineering degree or accepted equivalent with at least 55% in the qualifying examination. It also shows that some programmes accept specified science or computing postgraduate qualifications rather than only a narrowly matching B.E. title.

For example, the reported M.E. Use the awarding institution's recognised method to convert CGPA into percentage where the application requires it. A CGPA of 6.0 does not automatically mean 60% under every university's rules. Different grading systems can use different conversion formulas or require an official equivalence statement.

If the requirement uses the complete qualifying-degree aggregate, selecting only final-year marks can give the wrong result. Identify whether all semesters, a prescribed set of subjects or another defined measure is required. Keep the calculation traceable to the marksheets and the relevant rule.

For an original weighted example, suppose two components carry credits of twenty and thirty, with corresponding grade-point averages of seven and eight. The credit-weighted average is (20 × 7 + 30 × 8) divided by 50, giving 7.6. A simple unweighted average of 7.5 would describe a different calculation.

Where the record is unusual or an equivalence is pending, obtain the accepted calculation rather than entering a convenient number to satisfy an online field.

Final-year applicants and unresolved academic conditions

A final-year applicant should distinguish an application based on current progress from final admission based on a completed qualification. The test result cannot establish completion of a degree whose final requirements remain outstanding. Follow the programme's provisional-document and final-result deadlines.

Backlogs, revised results and delayed certificates should be disclosed through the authorised process. A provisional degree certificate, final marksheet and consolidated transcript are different records. Ask which is accepted at each stage instead of assuming that one document permanently replaces all others.

If a degree title has changed or the programme was offered under an older nomenclature, provide the official supporting explanation. Do not edit a certificate to make it resemble the current title. The university needs a traceable basis for any equivalence decision.

Keep the entrance and academic records connected through a consistent application identity. A name variation can be addressed with genuine evidence, but unexplained differences can delay verification. Resolve them early enough that the programme decision is not held up after a scholarship or fee deadline.
