Core engineering distribution

The official pattern specifies 100 multiple-choice questions, 120 minutes, one mark per correct answer and no negative marking. For Master of Engineering core programmes, the published distribution is as follows.

Half the paper is the core subject, while the other half is shared language and aptitude work. A strong engineering graduate can still lose substantial marks by ignoring the latter. Conversely, aptitude strength alone does not remove the need to prepare the relevant undergraduate discipline.

The official syllabus page contains distinct engineering sections, including Computer Science, Electronics and Communication, Civil and Automobile-related material. Use the section corresponding to the assigned module. A generic school-level Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics plan is not a substitute for the postgraduate core syllabus.

Interdisciplinary combinations

For eligible interdisciplinary M.E. programmes, the official page lists two combinations. The first is the core pattern above. The second contains English, Quantitative Analysis, Basic Computer Knowledge and Logical Reasoning in the following proportions.

The phrase based on eligibility is important. It does not establish that every M.E. applicant may freely choose the second combination simply to avoid a weaker core subject. Confirm the permitted combination for the exact programme and qualifying background.

The second combination should also not be confused with the MBA table. Although some components look similar, the M.E. interdisciplinary table lists Basic Computer Knowledge where another programme may list General Knowledge. A copied MBA preparation plan would therefore train the wrong twenty-five-question component.
