Verified qualifying cutoffs for selected papers
The official 2026 cutoff table records qualifying marks separately by paper and category. Selected engineering entries are shown below. These are examination qualification thresholds, not promises of an M.Tech seat and not closing cutoffs for any particular institute.

A candidate should use the row for the paper actually taken and the applicable category. Comparing a Mechanical Engineering mark with the Computer Science threshold has no admission meaning. A category claim also needs to be supported by the documents required by the receiving process; a displayed lower threshold does not itself validate an unsupported category selection.
The gap between qualification and competitive admission can be substantial. Qualification establishes one examination condition. Institutes may apply additional degree requirements, score thresholds, written tests, interviews or seat-allocation rules. A student who has qualified should build a programme list using these actual conditions instead of assuming that every GATE-accepting programme is equally accessible.
