Start with a measurable plan

Preparation should be organised around the official syllabus, available study time and current diagnostic performance. Divide the remaining calendar into learning, consolidation and exam-simulation phases. Keep weekly targets small enough to verify: chapters completed, mixed questions attempted, errors corrected and tests analysed.

The learning cycle

For each unit:

  1. Learn concepts from a dependable text or class.
  2. Work through examples without copying steps.
  3. Solve a graded set of questions.
  4. Review every error and guess.
  5. Reattempt marked questions after several days.
  6. Integrate the unit into a mixed subject test.

Reading solutions creates familiarity, not retrieval ability. Close the solution and reproduce the reasoning independently.

Balance the three subjects

Mathematics often needs sustained problem-solving time. Physics needs conceptual modelling plus calculation. Chemistry requires different methods for physical, inorganic and organic units. A plan that treats all three identically is inefficient, but abandoning one subject is equally dangerous because each contributes 100 marks.

Mock-test system

Begin with part-syllabus tests, then move to full papers. Simulate the actual shift timing periodically. After each test, spend substantial time analysing:

  • questions that should have been solved;
  • false confidence and guesses;
  • time spent per subject;
  • accuracy by chapter and question type;
  • mistakes repeated from earlier tests;
  • questions correctly skipped.

Track rolling averages rather than reacting emotionally to one score. As the exam approaches, test frequency may increase, but analysis and targeted revision must remain.

Revision tools

Maintain compact formula sheets, reaction/mechanism maps, inorganic fact sheets and an error notebook. Use spaced retrieval: revisit material after one day, one week and longer intervals rather than rereading it repeatedly in one sitting.

Attempt strategy

Choose a subject order based on evidence from mocks. In the first pass, collect direct marks and avoid becoming trapped. In the second pass, solve medium questions. Reserve final time for review, numerical entry and unanswered-question decisions. Because incorrect answers lose marks, a disciplined skip can be more valuable than an unsupported guess.

Health and exam readiness

Use a stable sleep schedule, especially during the final weeks. Practise at the likely exam shift time, plan travel, and avoid major new resources near the examination. The final days should prioritise recall, selected errors and confidence—not an impossible attempt to learn the entire syllabus again.
