Biochemical Engineering Entrance Exams

JEE Main

JEE Main may be accepted for BTech Biochemical Engineering at participating institutions and state counselling systems.

Candidates should check the exact branch title in the current seat matrix.

JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced is used for IIT undergraduate admission. It is relevant only when a participating IIT offers an applicable programme.

State engineering entrance examinations

Possible routes include:

  • KEAM
  • MHT CET
  • WBJEE
  • KCET
  • State-specific counselling using JEE Main
  • Other notified examinations

Combined Biotechnology and Biochemical Engineering programmes may participate in state counselling.

University entrance examinations

Private and state universities may conduct their own tests or use JEE Main, CUET or Class 12 merit.

GATE

GATE is widely used for MTech admission. Depending on the programme, accepted papers may include:

  • Chemical Engineering
  • Biotechnology
  • Life Sciences at selected institutions
  • Another paper specified by the university

Candidates should verify:

  • Accepted paper
  • Eligible bachelor’s branches
  • Cut-off
  • Interview requirements
  • Financial-assistance rules

CUET

CUET UG or PG may be used by participating universities for relevant science, engineering or postgraduate programmes. Subject requirements must be checked.

Entrance preparation

For undergraduate admission:

  • Strengthen Mathematics
  • Revise Physics
  • Study Chemistry
  • Practise previous papers
  • Take mock tests
  • Track counselling dates

For postgraduate admission:

  • Review material balances
  • Study Thermodynamics
  • Revise Fluid Mechanics
  • Practise Heat and Mass Transfer
  • Review reaction engineering
  • Study Biochemistry and Microbiology
  • Solve relevant GATE papers
