Carpet and Textile Technology Course Duration

The regular BTech Carpet and Textile Technology programme lasts four years and is divided into eight semesters. Each semester contains theory, practical courses and evaluation. Industrial training and a final-year project are important parts of the programme.

Duration by pathway

First year

The first year generally builds engineering foundations through mathematics, physics, chemistry, communication, computing, drawing and basic engineering. Introductory textile subjects connect these foundations with the chosen discipline.

Second year

Students move into fibre science, yarn manufacture, fabric formation, textile chemistry, mechanics and practical courses. They begin to understand how raw materials and process settings affect product quality.

Third year

Advanced carpet manufacturing, textile processing, testing, machinery, design and production subjects usually become important. Industrial training helps connect classroom concepts with factory work.

Fourth year

Students study electives, management, quality, advanced technology and sustainability. A major project or dissertation develops problem-solving and technical communication.

Attendance and laboratory completion

Universities prescribe attendance and academic rules. Laboratory exercises, records and practical examinations may be compulsory. Students should treat hands-on work as a core part of the degree rather than an addition.

Extending the duration

Backlogs, approved breaks or incomplete projects can extend study. Lateral entry reduces the normal time by admitting eligible candidates directly into the second year, but it can require extra effort to cover missing foundations.
