Computer Science Engineering Admission Process
Admission to Computer Science Engineering (CSE) depends on the qualification level and admitting authority. Before applying, compare the college’s accepted exam, programme approval, eligibility rules and counselling route. See the separate CSE eligibility guide for academic requirements.

For IIT, NIT, IIIT and participating government-funded UG programmes, eligible candidates use JoSAA’s common seat-allocation platform after the relevant JEE route. Other CSE colleges may use state counselling, university exams or their own selection process.
Application-to-admission flow
- Shortlist programmes: Confirm whether the course is diploma, first-year UG, lateral entry or PG.
- Check the accepted route: Review the relevant entrance exams and official admission notice.
- Apply separately where required: An entrance-exam form does not always register you for counselling or college admission.
- Submit choices carefully: Arrange CSE colleges and programmes in genuine order of preference.
- Respond to allotment: Accept, upgrade, freeze or withdraw only through options permitted by that counselling authority.
- Complete verification: Upload documents, answer discrepancy queries, pay the prescribed admission amount and report as instructed.
