Man-Made Fibre Technology Course Duration
| Programme | Typical duration |
|---|---|
| Skill certificate | Weeks to one year |
| Diploma Textile Technology–Manmade Fibre | Three years |
| B.Tech Man-Made Fibre Technology | Four years |
| Lateral-entry B.Tech | Commonly three remaining years |
| Related full-time M.Tech | Two years |
| Part-time M.Tech Textile Engineering | May be three years |
| PhD | Commonly three years or more |
Four-year progression
The first year covers Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, computing, drawing and workshops. The second year introduces polymer science, organic chemistry, chemical engineering, fibre science and textile manufacturing.
The third year develops melt, dry and wet spinning, drawing, texturing, testing, yarn manufacture, dyeing and machinery. The final year includes advanced fibres, technical textiles, recycling, management, internship and project.
Laboratory workload
Students conduct polymer and fibre tests, process trials, yarn analysis, dyeing and quality evaluation. Reports should contain measured data, calculations and uncertainty rather than copied theory.
Internship
Internships may occur in fibre plants, filament-yarn units, textile mills, polymer companies, testing laboratories, chemical suppliers, technical-textile plants or research organisations.
Major project
Projects may address spinning conditions, texturing, polymer blends, recycled feedstock, dyeing, functional finishes or process efficiency. Teams need repeated trials and safe supervision.
