Mechanical Engineering Entrance Exams

JEE Main

JEE Main is a major route to NITs and other participating engineering institutions. Candidates must also register for the applicable counselling and enter Mechanical Engineering in the correct preference order.

VITEEE

VITEEE is used for Mechanical Engineering admission at participating VIT campuses under current university rules.

BITSAT

BITSAT is used for the BE Mechanical Engineering route at participating BITS campuses under current academic conditions.

State examinations

MHT CET, KCET, WBJEE, AP EAPCET, TG EAPCET and other state routes may lead to Manufacturing, Production or Mechanical programmes.

GATE and CCMT

GATE is a principal route to MTech Mechanical Engineering and its specialisations. NIT postgraduate seats commonly use CCMT, while IITs and other institutes follow their notified selection processes.

CEETA/TANCET and institute routes

Tamil Nadu postgraduate engineering uses the current state process. Private institutions may use GATE, tests or merit.

Preparation strategy

UG candidates should follow the official PCM syllabus and practise timed questions. PG candidates should prepare Mechanical or another accepted GATE paper and revise manufacturing fundamentals.
