Mechanical Engineering Course Fees
Fees vary by institution. The following ranges are indicative totals.
| Programme type | Indicative tuition range |
|---|---|
| Government diploma | ₹20,000–₹2 lakh |
| Government/state BTech | ₹60,000–₹5 lakh |
| Private/deemed BTech | ₹7 lakh–₹25 lakh or more |
| Government MTech | ₹20,000–₹3.5 lakh |
| Private MTech | ₹2 lakh–₹6 lakh or more |
Recent listings illustrate variation. NIT Tiruchirappalli's BTech has appeared near ₹6.81 lakh, NIT Surathkal near ₹5.72 lakh, NIT Rourkela near ₹6.29 lakh, IIT Indore near ₹8.48 lakh and VIT Vellore near ₹7.80 lakh. Other public and private programmes can fall outside this group.
Fee pages may combine tuition, one-time charges or other components differently. Applicants should obtain an official semester-wise schedule and separately budget hostel, mess, transport and refundable deposits.
Additional costs
Students may pay examination, laboratory, library, development, registration and caution fees. Hostel, mess, transport, laptop, safety shoes and project material are additional.
Scholarships
Government, category, income, merit and institutional schemes may apply. GATE-qualified PG students may receive assistance under current rules and conditions.
Value assessment
Compare operational laboratories, faculty, internships and branch placements with total cost. Expensive automation equipment has little value without student access and capable instruction.
