The official syllabus statement for all B.Tech and BCA applicants was concise: Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics according to the Classes XI and XII syllabus of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent. Part II covered general English, general knowledge, and Islamic history and culture.

The university did not publish a chapter-by-chapter U21 list in the brochure. A detailed preparation guide should therefore be presented as a study map based on the stated Class 11–12 level, not falsely labelled as a verbatim official chapter list. Candidates were responsible for checking the current WBCHSE subject curriculum and any portal update.

General English syllabus and preparation

The official brochure described general English as basic vocabulary, grammar and comprehension at the 10+2 level. Useful preparation areas include word meaning in context, synonyms and antonyms, correct usage, articles, prepositions, subject–verb agreement, tense, voice, narration, sentence correction and short reading passages.

Comprehension should be answered from the passage rather than from outside knowledge. Candidates can first read the questions, scan the passage for evidence and then distinguish direct statements from inference. Grammar revision is more effective when rules are applied to sentences. A short notebook of repeated errors can improve accuracy faster than reading an entire grammar book close to the exam.

General knowledge syllabus and preparation

The official scope included medieval and modern Indian history, geography, political science, general science and current affairs. This is broader than daily news alone. Candidates needed a foundation in important events, institutions, geographical features, constitutional and political concepts, and basic scientific developments, along with current events relevant to the period before the examination.

The safest method is to use concise notes organised by topic and month. Current affairs can be revised through event, organisation, person, place and significance. Static topics can be connected to current events—for example, a constitutional body in the news can be revised together with its role. Because the general section had limited marks and time, revision should be focused and repeated rather than endless.

Islamic history and culture syllabus and preparation

The university stated that Islamic history and culture questions would be at the 10+2 level. The Part II ratio gave this area the largest approximate share among the general components. Candidates therefore should not ignore it while concentrating on PCM.

Preparation should follow the relevant higher-secondary-level scope and any guidance or previous paper made available by the university. Students can organise notes chronologically and thematically: major historical developments, intellectual and cultural contributions, institutions, personalities and movements within the prescribed level. The aim should be factual understanding, not unsupported generalisation.

The official AUAT page links a 2024 previous-year question paper. Previous papers help reveal style and relative depth, but they do not replace the 2026 syllabus statement. A candidate should avoid assuming that every topic or exact distribution repeats.
