Dates, fees, cutoffs and rules can change between admission cycles. Confirm dynamic details on the conducting authority’s official portal before acting.
Final-week and exam-day preparation
In the last week, candidates should reduce experimental strategies. They should confirm slot details, identification requirements, reporting or login time, device instructions if remote, and permitted items. Formula sheets and reaction summaries could be reviewed, but sleep and alertness were more valuable than an overnight study session.
On the day before the test, the candidate should prepare the admit card or confirmation, identity proof and any specified stationery. For a remotely proctored test, the system, internet, camera, microphone, power supply and room conditions needed checking. For a centre-based test, the route and travel buffer were important. The individual official instruction took priority because the published sources conflict about location mode.
Slot booking
ATIT was conducted across multi-day windows, so the candidate’s assigned or booked slot determined the actual examination date and time. Slot availability could be limited. Applicants should have completed the choice promptly after receiving portal instructions instead of waiting for the final day.
Before confirming a slot, a candidate needed to consider board examinations, JEE/state exam dates, travel and reliable test conditions. After confirmation, the slot details should be saved as a PDF or screenshot. A preference submission was not always the same as a final allotment; students needed the final confirmation.
Admit card or confirmation details
The ATIT admit card/slot confirmation would normally identify the candidate and carry the test date, time, reporting or login requirement, and instructions. Candidates had to verify:
- spelling of the name;
- photograph and application number;
- programme;
- date and time;
- centre address or remote-test login information;
- reporting time;
- identity document requirement;
- prohibited items and technical rules.
Any mismatch needed immediate reporting to admissions. Editing an admit card independently or carrying a document belonging to another candidate could lead to disqualification.
At a test centre
If the assigned test was centre-based, the candidate should have arrived early, carried the required original photo identity proof and followed security instructions. Electronic devices, study notes and unauthorised calculators should not be carried unless the admit card expressly permitted them. Rough work should be done only on the material provided or allowed by the centre.
Candidates should read on-screen instructions before starting. They needed to understand how to save an answer, move between sections, mark a question for review and submit the paper. The timer continued while a student remained on one question.
During a remote-proctored test
If the individual 2026 slot was home-proctored, the candidate needed a compliant computer, functioning webcam and microphone, stable internet, power backup and a quiet, well-lit room. The desk should have contained only permitted material. Another person entering the room, looking away repeatedly, using a phone or switching applications could trigger a proctoring incident.
Students should have installed or tested required software well before the slot. A system check performed five minutes before the examination was risky. If a genuine technical failure occurred, the candidate needed to follow the official support route and preserve error screenshots or incident details without violating test-security rules.
Behaviour during the paper
Begin with the section that provides confidence, unless the interface fixes the order. Secure straightforward marks first. If a question remains unsolved after a reasonable time, mark it and move on. Do not let one difficult Mathematics problem consume the time needed for ten direct questions.
Before final submission, confirm that selected answers are saved. Use the final minutes to attempt unanswered questions through informed elimination. Do not click final submit casually if the interface permits continued review.
