Section distribution and time management

The university describes corresponding skills in slightly broader terms, including numerical ability and data interpretation, general awareness and current affairs, and logical reasoning and analytical ability. These descriptions should guide preparation alongside the section labels. A section called Quantitative Aptitude does not mean that interpreting a table can be ignored, just as a section called General Knowledge does not necessarily exclude current events.

Ninety minutes for 100 questions gives an average of 54 seconds per question. That average includes reading and navigation, not only calculation. It is a useful warning against spending several minutes on every difficult item, but not a requirement to assign equal time to every question. A passage may take time to read and then support several answers; a vocabulary item may take only a few seconds when the word is known.

The inspected official AUSAT page awards one mark for a correct response but does not expressly specify the treatment of wrong answers. This guide therefore does not turn silence into a confirmed no-negative-marking rule. Read the complete instructions for the assigned test before adopting a guessing policy. A preparation article should not recommend a scoring strategy based on an assumption that the candidate has no opportunity to verify.

The following exercises are original teaching examples, not official AUSAT questions or predictions. Their purpose is to explain the skills named in the assessment. They do not establish chapter weightages, a likely cutoff or the difficulty of a future paper. Use them to diagnose a method, then practise additional unfamiliar questions so that improvement comes from understanding rather than remembering the examples' answers.
