AMUEEE 2026 eligibility criteria

Eligibility is checked at more than one stage. The online system may allow a candidate to submit details, but admission can still be refused if the qualifying marks, subjects, age or documents do not match the official rule. Students should evaluate eligibility against original certificates before paying the application fee.

Academic qualification for B.Tech

For the regular B.Tech route, the published 2026 information required the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination of AMU or an equivalent Class 12 examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, with at least 50% aggregate marks in these subjects. A candidate appearing in the qualifying examination could apply, but had to produce proof of passing and satisfying the marks requirement by the stage and date prescribed for admission.

AMU also recognises an alternative route based on a diploma in engineering of AMU with at least the prescribed aggregate. Students holding a diploma from another institution should not assume that it is automatically covered by this particular clause. They must read the exact 2026 programme entry and equivalence rule.

How to calculate the required aggregate

Candidates should not calculate eligibility from their best five subjects unless the official programme entry permits it. When the rule names Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English, use the marks in those subjects and follow the board's maximum marks. For example, if each is out of 100, add the marks obtained in the four subjects, divide by 400 and multiply by 100. Practical marks should be included only as they form part of the board's final subject total.

Grades, CGPA or international qualifications may require an official conversion or equivalence document. A self-created conversion is not enough. Candidates from boards not immediately familiar to AMU should check the official list of recognised boards and arrange an equivalence certificate if directed.

Age requirement

The commonly reported 2026 B.Tech rule stated that a candidate should not be more than 24 years old on July 1, 2026. Age rules can contain relaxation, programme-specific wording or treatment of exceptional cases in the admission guide. Date of birth must match the High School/Class 10 certificate. Changing the date casually in the form can cause a mismatch during verification.

Eligibility of Class 12 appearing students

An appearing student was able to apply without a final Class 12 marksheet, but application permission was provisional. Such a candidate still needed to pass the examination with the required subjects and percentage and submit the final document within AMU's admission timetable. A compartment result arriving after the last acceptable date may not protect the seat. “Appearing” is not a relaxation from the minimum percentage.

Reservation and special categories

AMU's admission guide contains university-specific categories and rules, including provisions connected with internal candidates and notified special categories. A category benefit is available only when the candidate selects the correct claim and produces the exact certificate or proforma. A general caste certificate format used for another counselling system may not satisfy an AMU-specific category.

Candidates seeking a special-category benefit should:

• read the definition in the current guide;
• check whether a university proforma is compulsory;
• obtain signatures from the competent authority;
• upload a complete, readable document;
• keep the original for admission; and
• monitor the verification status during counselling.

Never claim a category merely because it appeared in an older article. Category names, seat treatment and documentary formats can change.

Common reasons for ineligibility

Typical problems include missing Mathematics, using a vocational combination not accepted for the regular route, falling below the required aggregate, exceeding the notified age, relying on an unrecognised board, failing to produce the final result, or submitting a category certificate that does not prove the claim. Name and parent-name differences across documents can also delay verification. Students with a genuine variation should arrange an affidavit or correction document according to AMU instructions rather than hiding the mismatch.
