Understanding the rank card

The Board's 2026 rank-card notice was issued on 24 June. Downloading a rank card establishes the candidate's examination result in the form provided; it does not itself complete admission. Read the labels for the relevant rank and category rather than reporting one number without context. Different lists or categories can serve different purposes in counselling.

A rank should be compared only with data from the same route and a suitably comparable category, branch, institution and round. A first-year JEE-based closing rank cannot be used as though it were a BCECE LE closing rank. Even within lateral entry, a previous year's last allotted rank reflects that year's vacancies and preferences. It is historical evidence, not a promise about the current candidate's outcome.

If the displayed personal details differ from the submitted application, preserve both records and raise the discrepancy through the authorised process. Do not assume that an error will disappear during college reporting. A clear record of the application, corrections and result makes it easier for the authority to determine where the mismatch arose.
