Correcting the outdated two-subject description

The official 2026 engineering test contains 200 questions: eighty Mathematics, sixty Physics and sixty Chemistry. It lasts three hours, is set in English and awards one mark per correct answer. There is no negative marking for incorrect or unanswered questions. The older description of one hundred Physics and one hundred Mathematics questions does not describe the verified 2026 pattern.

The average is fifty-four seconds per question across the paper. This makes recognition and selection of efficient methods important. It does not mean that every item is equally difficult or should receive exactly the same time. A lengthy calculation needs to be balanced against the opportunity to answer several shorter questions elsewhere.

The absence of negative marking supports reviewing unanswered questions before the end, but it does not make careful reasoning unnecessary. A candidate can lose opportunities by spending too long on one difficult item even when a wrong answer carries no penalty. First secure questions with a clear method, then return to uncertain items with the remaining time.
