Result and tie-breaking order

The entrance result supports a merit order for the admission process. A place in that list does not automatically create a seat in the desired branch. Eligibility, preferences, reporting and the availability at the candidate's turn still matter. Download and read the result under the correct examination label rather than assume that a general portal status is the final admission decision.

For equal entrance marks, the official rules first use higher Mathematics marks in the test, then higher aggregate percentage in HSC or equivalent, then higher Class 10 Mathematics percentage. If the tie remains, the document provides for computerised random selection. This order should not be replaced by an assumed Physics tiebreak or an age rule from another examination.

The Mathematics tiebreak does not mean that Physics and Chemistry can be neglected. All three contribute to the total, and the tiebreak applies only when that total is equal. Preparation should first aim to improve the overall score. The rule is useful for understanding merit construction, not for justifying a one-subject study plan.
