Reading the scorecard correctly

A raw mark, a normalised measure and a percentile are not interchangeable. Raw marks arise from correct and incorrect responses under the marking scheme. A percentile expresses relative standing under the authority's calculation. A value of 80 percentile should not be described as 80 marks out of 100 or as an 80% probability of admission.

Use the labels printed on the official scorecard when entering results in an admission form. If a field asks for percentile, entering raw marks can create a materially incorrect record even when the number itself is genuine. Keep a clear copy of the complete scorecard so that the context and candidate identity remain attached to the value.

Candidates comparing performance across disciplines should be especially careful. Different subject papers need not have the same raw-score distribution. An informal comparison between friends in different branches therefore cannot establish the relative admission merit that the official process will use. The published admission list is the relevant document for that purpose.

If an identifying detail or score entry appears inconsistent, use the official correction or query channel with the application number and supporting record. Avoid relying on an edited screenshot or a reconstructed scorecard. Admission verification depends on the authority's record, and a private calculation cannot replace it.
