Provisional answer keys and recorded responses

NTA provided a process to inspect provisional keys and recorded responses before the final result. The challenge procedure uses Question IDs and Option IDs, which may not appear in the same sequence as a candidate expects from memory. Match identifiers rather than relying only on a question's position in a paper.

The published challenge procedure specified ₹200 per question and required successful payment to complete a claim. The bulletin describes the processing charge as non-refundable. Supporting evidence should address the disputed answer directly. A clear reference to the relevant concept or calculation is more useful than a long statement that the candidate expected a different score.

For the completed 2026 cycle, the challenge stage should be described historically. A reader viewing this page in September should not be encouraged to submit a challenge through an expired window. The final result follows the final key, and the bulletin does not offer result re-evaluation or rechecking. Retaining response records when available is useful because a later request may not recreate the original download facility.

More than one correct option and dropped questions

The bulletin explains how anomalous questions are treated after review. If more than one option is found correct, the positive marks go to candidates who selected an accepted correct option. If no option is correct, a question is wrong or a question is dropped, the bulletin provides five marks to all candidates who appeared, regardless of whether they attempted it.

This distinction matters when reconstructing a raw score. A simple count of the candidate's initially matched answers may omit an officially dropped-question adjustment. It is therefore possible for an unofficial calculation using the provisional key to differ from the final processed score without implying an error in the final result.

Use the final key and the exact applicable rule when checking a result. Do not apply a dropped-question rule from another examination, because some authorities treat such questions differently. Similarly, a question with two accepted options is not automatically a universal bonus question. The category assigned by the official final key determines the treatment.
