AEEE 2026 eligibility criteria

Eligibility has two layers: eligibility to apply and eligibility to receive admission. An applicant could register while appearing for the qualifying examination, but admission remained conditional on passing Class 12 or an accepted equivalent with the required subjects and marks. A good AEEE rank could not cure a failure to meet the academic condition.

Age requirement

For AEEE 2026, candidates whose date of birth fell on or after July 1, 2005 were eligible under the stated age rule. The date entered in the application needed to agree with the Class 10 certificate or another accepted official record. An applicant should never alter a date merely to satisfy an online form; inconsistency can lead to cancellation during document verification.

Academic requirement

A candidate needed to pass 10+2 or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. The official minimum was:

  • at least 55% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; and
  • at least 50% individually in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Both conditions applied. For example, scores of 70 in Physics, 70 in Chemistry and 48 in Mathematics would produce an aggregate above 55%, but the candidate would not meet the individual Mathematics minimum. Similarly, exactly 50 in all three subjects would meet the individual condition but create only a 50% PCM aggregate, below the required 55%.

Candidates awaiting a result could participate provisionally. They had to submit the final mark sheet and satisfy all conditions by the university's notified verification stage. Compartment, improvement and re-evaluation cases were governed by the final accepted result and the university's document deadline.

Accepted qualifying examinations

The official eligibility information included the final examination of the recognised 10+2 system conducted by a central or state board, including CBSE and CISCE or another board accepted as equivalent. It also included a recognised Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination, GCE Advanced level, Cambridge High School Certificate or International Baccalaureate Diploma, and the NIOS Senior Secondary examination with at least five subjects as recognised by the central board.

Students from an international board should obtain any required equivalence proof early. Subject names and grading formats sometimes differ. The university, not a private portal, makes the final equivalence decision.

AEEE route and JEE Main route

AEEE was not compulsory for every B.Tech applicant. Amrita accepted an AEEE 2026 rank or JEE Main 2026 percentile. A candidate could use both. The initial AEEE registration allowed the applicant to add the JEE Main percentile without an extra application fee. During CSAP, AEEE and JEE performance were used in their applicable seat-allotment streams.

This alternative did not mean that a JEE applicant could skip Amrita's application and counselling. The student still needed an Amrita application, had to satisfy B.Tech eligibility, provide the correct JEE percentile and register for CSAP. A JEE score by itself was not an Amrita seat confirmation.

NRI, OCI and related categories

The official admission information described separate treatment for certain international and NRI categories. OCI or PIO students and non-resident Indian students who completed the qualifying examination abroad could have a route where AEEE or JEE was not mandatory. NRI-sponsored candidates studying in India were required to appear for AEEE or JEE where applicable. Such applicants should use the official NRI or international admissions channel because sponsorship, passport, residence and fee documents differ from regular CSAP documents.

Who was not eligible

An applicant did not qualify for regular B.Tech admission if the date-of-birth condition was not met, PCM was absent from the accepted qualification, the PCM aggregate was below 55%, any individual PCM subject was below 50%, the qualifying board was not recognised or required documents were not produced. Amrita also states that lateral entry is not available for this B.Tech route. Diploma holders should therefore not assume direct second-year entry through AEEE.
