AEEE 2026 exam pattern
The examination used a computer-based multiple-choice format. Candidates answered 100 questions in 150 minutes. The maximum score was 300. The paper was in English and combined core PCM knowledge with Quantitative Aptitude and English.

Marking scheme
Each correct response earned three marks. Each wrong response deducted one mark. An unattempted question carried zero. If C is the number of correct responses and W is the number of wrong responses, the raw score is:
Raw score = (3 × C) - W
Suppose a candidate answered 80 questions, with 65 correct and 15 wrong. The score would be 195 minus 15, or 180. If the candidate had blindly attempted five more and all were wrong, the score would drop to 175. Negative marking makes elimination valuable, but random guessing can damage the total.
Time available per question
The average is 90 seconds per question. This does not mean every question should receive 90 seconds. English and basic aptitude questions may take less time, leaving more for multi-step Mathematics and Physics problems. A practical plan is to clear direct questions first, return to moderate questions and reserve a final review period.
The CBT interface normally presents a question palette, answer choices and navigation controls. Candidates should read the on-screen instructions about saving, marking for review and submission. A response only marked for review may be treated according to the interface instructions, so the candidate must understand the colour legend before beginning.
Attempt strategy
Start with the subject in which accuracy is strongest, unless the on-screen system fixes an order. Complete direct formula, factual Chemistry, basic English and short aptitude questions without rushing. Mark lengthy questions for review. In the second pass, solve questions for which the method is clear. In the last pass, attempt only those uncertain questions where options can be reduced intelligently.
Do not spend five minutes proving one difficult result while several direct questions remain unseen. Also do not chase a target number of attempts independent of accuracy. AEEE rank is based on performance across the candidate pool, and a clean score with fewer errors can be stronger than a high-attempt paper with many penalties.
