Application costs and form accuracy

The application fee in the 2026 brochure is ₹1,000 for candidates seeking consideration only through GATE or GPAT and ₹3,600 for other applicants, including the HD-test route. The fee is stated as non-refundable and non-transferable. These amounts are application charges, not semester tuition or a seat-acceptance deposit. Keeping those categories separate prevents a misleading estimate of postgraduate cost.

Before completing the form, assemble the qualifying-degree details, the relevant scorecard where applicable and a considered preference order. Enter the score, examination year, paper code and validity accurately. A scorecard contains several numbers; a rank, raw mark and score are not interchangeable fields. Read the field label and transfer the corresponding value rather than choosing the most prominent number on the document.

The brochure asks test applicants for three centre preferences. Choose locations that are genuinely workable, taking account of travel time and the possible session. A distant third preference is not harmless if it later becomes the assigned option. The final centre list depends on the institution's arrangements, so a city appearing in the planned list does not guarantee that every candidate can be accommodated there.

Programme preferences should be entered only after checking eligibility. The brochure warns that ineligible choices can affect consideration and test participation. Do not use the form as an experiment in selecting every attractive title. If the applicant is unsure about one programme, resolve the qualification question before relying on it in the preference list.
