The four programme choices

The post-diploma eligibility list includes Mechanical, Plastics, Polymer, Tool, Production, Mechatronics and Automobile Engineering, along with CIPET's DPMT. A qualification with a similar-sounding title should not automatically be treated as equivalent. Where equivalence is required, obtain a programme-specific decision using the actual certificate and marksheets.

A postgraduate diploma is not the same award as a master's degree. Likewise, a post-diploma programme is not simply the second year of an ordinary diploma. The award title matters when considering later education, employer requirements and eligibility for another entrance examination. Record the full programme name rather than referring to every option as a plastics course.

The inclusion of an internship within PGD-PPT does not establish that every student receives the same employer, location or allowance. Those details depend on the actual arrangement. Ask how the internship is organised, assessed and supported, while keeping the published programme duration separate from assumptions about a particular placement.

Post-diploma and postgraduate-diploma applicants

A diploma holder considering PD-PMD with CAD/CAM should think about how the additional study builds on existing technical knowledge. Computer-aided work involves understanding dimensions, geometry and design intent, not just operating software menus. A drawing that looks attractive can still fail to communicate a feature or fit correctly.

A science graduate considering PGD-PPT brings a different foundation. Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics can help explain material behaviour and interpret measurements. The useful question is how the programme connects that background to processing and testing practice. Ask about laboratory learning and assessment without assuming that every science graduate has already studied industrial polymers in depth.

For either route, list the subjects you studied and the skills you can demonstrate independently. A diploma holder might need to refresh chemistry; a chemistry graduate might need more algebra or mechanics. This personal gap analysis is more useful than borrowing a Class 10 preparation plan simply because both applicants take an examination called CAT.

Keep eligibility and preparedness separate. Meeting the qualifying-degree requirement allows an application to be considered under the rules; it does not prove readiness in every tested subject. Conversely, strong self-study cannot replace a required qualification. Both the documentary and academic sides need attention before committing to a programme.
