COMEDK UGET Counselling
COMEDK UGET 2026: Counselling. 2026 information reviewed on 25 September; retain the stated verification limits.
Counselling registration and document approval
Counselling required a separate non-refundable registration payment of ₹2,000, with applicable convenience charges. The document-upload stage followed successful payment. A candidate who only registered for the entrance examination had not thereby registered for counselling.
Upload the documents for the actual claims made. General Merit eligibility, a lower qualifying-mark claim and KKR eligibility can require different supporting records. The relevant checklist should determine the documents, rather than a generic folder assembled for a different examination.
Check the verification status and respond to a notified deficiency within the permitted period. Submission and approval are different states. A file being uploaded does not establish that its contents are readable, valid or sufficient for the claim under review.
The process document provided specific arrangements for current-year supplementary candidates, including initial counselling registration and later proof of passing before the stated round. It did not create an unlimited new registration window after supplementary results. Applicants needed to follow the sequence actually announced for that group.
Choosing college-and-branch combinations
A preference is a college-and-branch combination, not merely a college name. The same institution can appear several times for different branches. Check the exact code and full programme title so that a specialised course is not confused with a broader course whose abbreviation looks similar.
Rank acceptable choices by genuine preference. If option A is preferred to option B, placing B above A can affect the allocation the system considers first. Do not reorder solely on a rumour about cutoffs without understanding how the preference mechanism works.
Research affordability before adding an option. A seat that cannot be financed or that the student would refuse is not automatically a useful safety choice. Late-round participation can carry important obligations, so a long list should still consist of programmes the applicant has considered seriously.
Keep a saved copy of the final preference list and its status. If the process allows editing during a particular window, verify that the intended version is the one submitted or locked. A draft spreadsheet and the actual portal list can diverge after several changes.
Mock allotment and the four-round structure
A mock allotment shows how the current preferences and available information interact at that stage. It is not a final offer and should not be treated as a reserved seat. Use it to identify unintended preferences or misunderstood codes before the applicable editing deadline.
The 2026 process document describes four counselling rounds. Round 2 is specifically associated with approved KKR candidates and KKR seats; it is not simply an identical second opportunity for every General Merit applicant. Later participation depends on the candidate's earlier status and the applicable decision table.
The available decisions can include accepting and freezing, accepting and upgrading, rejecting and upgrading, or rejecting and withdrawing, but not every decision is available to every candidate in every round. Read the row for the actual prior status rather than treating the labels as universal menu options.
For example, accepting and upgrading generally retains an accepted position while seeking a higher preference under the process, whereas rejecting and upgrading gives up the allotted seat while remaining in the applicable upgrade route. The financial and participation consequences must be read with the official round-specific rules.
Late-round decisions need particular attention
The process document restricts Round 4 choices and states that there is no seat-cancellation option during or after that round. Candidates entering it must understand the obligations associated with an allotment. It would be misleading to advise everyone to wait for the last round without explaining that the decision framework changes.
An applicant holding another admission should compare the two institutions' reporting and withdrawal terms before making an irreversible counselling choice. The fact that both offers concern engineering does not make their fee or cancellation rules identical. Use the written terms of each offer.
A missed decision or payment can have consequences under the published status rules. Silence is not a safe substitute for selecting an available option. After acting, check the recorded decision and receipt rather than assuming that reaching a payment page completed the entire acceptance process.
If a rule is unclear for a particular status, ask the official helpdesk a precise question before the deadline. Include the round, current decision and relevant allotment status. A broad question about whether a refund is possible omits the details that determine the answer.
Fees: use the college-and-branch row
The official seat-and-fee matrix published before Round 1 lists tuition, other fee and total fee by institution and programme. These columns should be read together. A single fee number copied from another college or another admission route can misrepresent the cost of the intended COMEDK seat.
For a named example, the 14 July matrix lists R V College of Engineering's Computer Science and Engineering row at ₹3,02,000 tuition plus ₹20,000 other fee, totalling ₹3,22,000. This is the published matrix entry for that choice, not a universal COMEDK tariff or a four-year all-inclusive price.
Accommodation, meals, travel and personal study costs should be considered separately where they are not included in the admission demand. Ask the allotted college for the relevant hostel and joining information. The presence of a hostel on a campus does not establish an individual room allotment or a particular room category.
When estimating the degree cost, identify the period covered by each payment and whether future rates are fixed. Do not multiply an unexplained first payment mechanically. A useful estimate separates confirmed amounts, recurring costs and assumptions that may need revision.
Reporting and completing the admission record
After the required acceptance and payment, download the allotment letter and fee receipt and follow the reporting deadline. Check the college's working hours and the documents it requires. A central allotment record does not eliminate the institution's joining formalities.
Carry the originals and copies specified for verification and obtain appropriate acknowledgements. If an original is retained under the authorised process, keep a record of what was submitted. The student should be able to distinguish an earlier counselling approval from the final college admission acknowledgement.
If a genuine problem affects reporting, contact the authorised office promptly. Do not assume that a payment automatically grants extra time or that another candidate's extension applies. A written direction tied to the actual situation is more useful than an informal assurance.
Complete the process with a clear record of programme, institution, payments and joining status. For a later cycle, preserve the study methods but replace the operational dates, syllabus references, fee matrix and counselling rules. Updating only the year in the title would leave precisely the kinds of errors that can mislead applicants.
