Academic qualification and subject conditions

The engineering route requires the recognised second PUC, Class 12 or equivalent qualification. Physics, Mathematics and English are compulsory under the published rule, with the specified additional subject choice including Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science or Electronics. The counselling document clarifies the aggregate calculation using Physics, Mathematics and the accepted third subject.

The minimum relevant aggregate is 45% for General Merit, reduced to 40% for the eligible SC, ST and OBC candidates of Karnataka. The prescribed subjects must also be passed individually. An aggregate above the threshold cannot compensate for a failed required subject.

COMEDK additionally states that all individual subjects, including optional or additional subjects, must be passed and that the subjects must come from one board. Its example rejects combining Physics and Chemistry marks from one board with Mathematics from another. Applicants relying on multiple marksheets should therefore check what those records represent rather than assuming that any combination is acceptable.

For an original aggregate example, Physics 52, Mathematics 61 and an accepted third subject 58, each out of 100, produce 171 out of 300, or 57%. This calculation only illustrates arithmetic. The candidate must still satisfy the subject-pass, board, qualification and other conditions applicable to the actual admission.

Category, residence and alternative qualifications

A category certificate issued outside Karnataka does not by itself establish entitlement to the Karnataka-specific 40% threshold. The applicant must satisfy the stated state and category conditions together. Treat residence evidence and social-category evidence as separate requirements where the counselling checklist asks for both.

The Kalyana Karnataka Region arrangement is another distinct matter. It concerns the relevant regional seat claim and supporting eligibility certificate. It should not be confused with the lower school-mark threshold or a general reservation available to every candidate studying in Karnataka.

Diploma candidates do not have a lateral-entry engineering admission route through COMEDK UGET. A diploma holder seeking admission to the second year should investigate the appropriate separate route. Preparing for this test does not create a third-semester seat channel where the official process states that none exists.

Indian citizens and the specified OCI/PIO categories can appear under the published conditions, with the required declarations for the latter groups. Applicants with overseas or nonstandard qualifications should establish the accepted equivalence and documentary requirements for their case. A familiar school-level label is not always sufficient to establish equivalence.
