Courses, seats and self-supported fees

The brochure lists Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Its published seat figures are 540 for CSE, 60 for ECE, and 30 each for Mechanical, Civil and EEE. These are brochure figures, not a statement of vacancies remaining after any counselling round. A later vacancy matrix answers a different question and should be labelled with its phase and date.

Annual course fees in the brochure are ₹2,05,000 for CSE, ₹1,55,000 for ECE, ₹1,30,000 for Mechanical, and ₹1,05,000 each for Civil and EEE. Additional listed charges include a special fee and a one-time accreditation charge. The applicant's current university demand is the payment reference; a comparison table should not silently combine recurring tuition with a charge that applies only once.

For illustration, multiplying the listed CSE annual course fee by four gives ₹8,20,000, while the corresponding arithmetic for Civil gives ₹4,20,000. These are calculations using the published annual figures, not guaranteed four-year invoices. They exclude accommodation, food, travel and other charges and assume no change in the annual amount. The purpose of the calculation is to expose the size of the tuition commitment before the family chooses a branch.

The self-supported funding condition is particularly important: the brochure states that these students are not entitled to fee reimbursement or scholarship under that arrangement. An applicant should not budget as though a reimbursement normally associated with another admission route will necessarily cover the AUEET seat. If someone offers a different benefit, obtain the specific written award and confirm that it applies to this exact programme and category of admission.

Hostel planning requires a separate decision. A reference to hostel accommodation does not establish a room allotment, its charges or the date on which a student can move in. Before reporting, ask the university about the applicable hostel process and consider a temporary accommodation plan if allocation is unresolved. Compare the whole living cost, including meals and commuting, rather than treating the presence of a hostel as proof of a fixed total budget.

Choosing a branch for the right reasons

CSE applicants should consider whether they enjoy sustained work on logic, algorithms and debugging. Interest in using software is not identical to interest in building it. A useful personal test is to spend time implementing a small program, tracing an error and explaining why the corrected version works. The exercise does not decide admission eligibility, but it reveals more about the student's preference than choosing a branch solely from its name.

ECE and EEE can appeal to students interested in electrical behaviour, but they should not be treated as interchangeable labels. When comparing the available programmes, inspect the actual university curriculum for circuits, electronics, signals, machines, power systems and related laboratories. The relevant question is which combination of subjects the student wants to study over several years. An assumption about a single future job should not erase that academic distinction.

Mechanical and Civil also deserve a positive evaluation rather than being treated only as fallback choices. A student interested in forces, motion, energy and physical systems may find a different fit from someone interested in structures, materials, infrastructure and the built environment. Read the programme's course sequence and laboratory requirements. An acceptable preference is a course the student is willing to study if allotted, not merely a line added to make a choice list longer.

Placement comparisons should remain specific to the programme and reporting period. A university-wide highest salary cannot establish the outcome for a particular branch, and an isolated success story cannot describe an entire graduating class. Look for the size of the eligible cohort, number placed, kinds of roles and the basis of any reported salary statistic. Where branch-level evidence is unavailable, leave the comparison unresolved instead of replacing it with a confident estimate.
